From Prayer Accountability Partners to Forever Partners #ThePlums2022

Love Story Shared By Titilayo:

We were both serving at the media department in Kingsword campus church OAU, Ile Ife. Pelumi was one of leaders in the team and we saw quite often. After a while, I noticed Pelumi wanted us to talk more and he even said we should become prayer accountability partners (sneaky man). At this point I knew something was up, because we had an excuse to talk more often.

After a while becoming better friends, Pelumi said we should go out to eat at a restaurant, I noticed he was super nervous, but somehow, he was able to tell me how he felt and I felt the same.

We started being friends with an intent, we hung out regularly, talked a lot, spoke about everything and we became best of friends. After a while we had to become official.

The dynamics of our relationship changed a bit when Pelumi left school and started working in Lagos and I was still in school. We had a lot of friction at this point because we were living different realities and communication wasn’t easy. I was complaining to Pelumi about lecturers but he was complaining about real life – work, money and all.

We were able to communicate better through wise counsel from people we both submitted to and learnt from other people who were in similar situations.

Long distance is not for the faint hearted but God helped us through. We sent our first texts June 17, 2016 and it’s been 6 years dating this wonderful man. We are both excited to go on this journey of forever.
