Yes, I migrated to th,e United States via the student route last year, and it’s been one of the best decisions I have made so far. Although it’s a bit challenging being away from families and loved ones, I have acclimatised and currently not doing badly.
Before I travelled, I did a thorough research on the school and the state I am moving to, I also connected with Nigerians there so settling in wasn’t difficult.
Although, I wished I knew how demanding being a student in foreign countries can be. Their work ethics is extremely different from ours, which took me aback for the first few weeks of class.
To my japa enthusiasts, I’ll advice that you also consider USA. Although the route to PR/citizenship isn’t straight. But there is an untapped route to getting your green card as a student (MSc/PhD) that a lot of people are not aware of.

No regrets, it was the best decision at the right time. Moved to Canada in 2017 and I’m about to become a citizen in July and have my first child in August. If you do your research well and not rely on people, you wont have any regrets.

I moved to the US via student route in 2022. I don’t regret it, infact best thing because my husband was here before me (we weren’t married at the time). I love the fact that we are both independent visa holders and will very soon become a dual-earning professionals. Couples with one dependent will not find it easy in the US, because the dependent can’t work legally (consider UK or Canada if this is your plan).

It is one of the best decision I made but I will advice incoming students to know that if they are not financially stable, they should not move abroad especially students who are not on funding or scholarship.

I moved to the Uk for my masters in 2023, thank God it was on scholarship, haven’t made £1 since i arrived here! Some said because of my location or I’m not trying enough but I believe I’m trying, I’d advice anyone that wants to go to the Uk to have enough money or get scholarship. Imagine if I was self sponsored? Anyone that knows how I can get job in Coventry should help o, I don tire!

I’m in the USA… to get green card of citizenship via student route is hard.. been here for years. If you are just coming, ur fellow students will mk it look so easy that a company will sponsor them which is often hard. Even if u see a company who promises to do sponsorship for u, they might end up not doing or lucky u, they will. Most students here end up getting married for papers or paying someone to marry or staying for years without green card or citizenship. It’s easier for men to get papers cos u can see someone to marry or pay but usually hard for women.

But anyways, if you want to come, be ready for anything, that’s all I’m saying. It’s not as easy as she said it. Canada is friendlier to get pr and citizenship as a student. From there, u can enter USA if u want, for other opportunities.

And to be honest, abroad is not like if u dive in u get a job good immediately…. Nah, some stay a year, or even more before they get something good. Reason why most people do c

Got here (UK) September 2022 and it has been a tasking journey. Still owing my balance (2,900) that must to be paid in August and it is because I don’t want to work over 20hrs. It has been hard and don’t know what to do🤦🏿
If you’re coming to the UK if you don’t come with your partner abeg try pay more than 70% of your fees, 20hours will never supplement you, except you want to go overboard.
