“My village people” movie review!

Hi lovelies, have you seen “My Village People”? Hay God that movie got me screaming “Jesus” and “Holy Ghost fire” internally almost throughout, because what was all that spiritual battle?!!! Hey Jesuss!

“My village people” is a story about a rich young man (Prince, played by Bovi), who went to the village for his sister’s wedding and irrespective of the sisters caution to not interact with anyone, he got caught in the “webs of witchcraft and marine spirits” because his “waist couldn’t stay at a point”, according to Prof. Pium (Nkem Owoh), which took us through a scary, but funny and super interesting supernatural battle.

Falz’s Karashika was the perfect background music, because what was all that show of power? Prince initially said he didn’t believe in the supernatural and took everything with levity, but when they showed him ehn! He didn’t need no one to tell him twice before finally believing.

“My village people” is a really interesting movie, there were so many funny scenes; that scene at the beginning where Haggai (Theresa Eden) kept asking him to say “I love you” over and over, till he shouted and was like “wetin sef, sleep abeg” that cracked me up like crazy.

And then the scene at the bar with Ameh (Sophie Alakija), when he was professing his love and practiced going to her village and making his intentions known in the village square, that was really funny. And his mouth too sweet abeg, I could have fallen for him too. But shey if he knew his sweet mouth was going to put him in so much trouble, he could have run from her from day 1.

There’s a lot I can say about the movie, but I might just give you the whole spoilers and I wouldn’t love that if I were you. The acting was good, they really tried. The cinematography was good, the audio and background sounds were perfect, everything was really nice in my opinion.

The storyline was also great, you wouldn’t be expecting the twist, I honestly didn’t see it coming, but it made sense. It also had the perfect ending in my opinion, like he finally loved her? Awwn. However, I think some scenes weren’t necessary, like the scene at the bar where witches and mermaids fought and the plenty rainfall scenes, but it wasn’t all that bad.

Other stars you would see in the movie includes: Charles Inojie, Venita Akpofure, Akah Nnani, Amaechi Muonagor, Binta Ayo Mogaji, Rachel Oniga, Ada Ameh and many others; may the departed rest in peace. Amen.

I would rate an 8 because I really enjoyed the movie, it made me laugh and I would totally recommend it. You should totally check it out this weekend on Netflix if you haven’t!

Have you seen “My village people”? Is my review apt or you have a countering opinion? Did you enjoy the movie or didn’t enjoy it if you’ve seen it?
